how to know when there's too much bass?
seems like a funny question to post in the edm production sub. but hey, it happens. bass is not invincible. it can tittiefuck the shit out of your song, or it can act like a big soggy dick just weighing down on your mix.
sound reproduction is important here, so obviously your monitoring system plays a key role. let's say you don't trust your ears so much with the bass coming from your system (or for that matter, the room acoustics). how do you tell, via perhaps a spectrum meter, if the bass is too heavy?
bass is a common problem, so i've read. i struggle with it too, always wondering if there's too much, not enough, or if it is indeed in its sweet spot.
what do you guys do?
